Memorial Day: what a great time to remember our Nation’s history and the men and women who have sacrificed over the years. It’s also a great time to get together with friends and family, to eat way more than you should, and to enjoy a day outside around the grill. While I got to do all of these things, my weekend was anything but relaxing. Enjoyable? Yes. Restful? Nope. I have to blame the sale papers really.
It all started when I realized that local furniture stores were going to be having major holiday sales. Normally I wouldn’t give it a second thought, but just the other day I had been thinking about getting a new living room set. Next thing I know, we’ve ordered new furniture and it’s going to be delivered within a week. Just then, I realized that my popcorn removal project hadn’t quite made it to the living room.
You see, we kinda have a 12 foot vaulted ceiling in that room, and I’m not exactly tall so…. That’s where Tim comes in!
Removing popcorn isn’t necessarily difficult and it’s so rewarding. I love the finished project. But it is super messy. Popcorn can and will get everywhere. If you let the stuff dry before cleaning up, it’s actually easier to deal with. But I still didn’t want the new furniture in the middle of this.
After about two days of work, I am happy to say that the popcorn is completely gone from our living room ceiling! Even without any paint on the ceiling, it was a big improvement and looks so much better. No more cobwebs, yellow-stained spots, and/or other forms of dirty, old popcorn finish. I have been waiting for this moment to show you all our progress on this project. The living room was by far the most difficult room to tackle, and it looks great.
As the first coat of paint was being applied, all the time and effort put into this one room became worth it. To see a smooth, white surface up there was satisfying to say the least.
After about a week’s worth of work, I am happy to say that the ceiling is finished. And what an improvement it is!
We’ve managed to get the majority of the popcorn out of this house, with just a few more areas remaining. Be sure to check in as I’m hoping to share more pictures of the final product. And I cannot wait to show you the finished living room. Stay tuned.
