Virginia Woolf once said: “One cannot think well, love well, sleep well, if one has not dined well.” I’d have to agree with that statement, and just the other night, I dined very well. If you ever find yourself in the small city of LaGrange, Georgia, you have got to stop by the Brickhouse Grille. Small, discreet, and generally hidden from view, this restaurant may be overlooked at first glance because it’s sitting underneath another restaurant, the Del’ Avant. If you want to dine here, you’ll need to step around the back.
A little classy and a little rough around the edges, the Brickhouse Grille is a great place for a date night, any day of the week.
Although it boasts a rather impressive bar in the center of the building, that’s not what I went for.
Quickly scan the menu and you’ll realize that many of the items are about $10. Not bad for the quality of food and atmosphere. If you decide to order something a little more special, a steak can cost around $20, which isn’t too unusual all things considered. However, if you know me, I’m all about the BBQ. And while maybe I didn’t get barbeque, I did score some brisket tacos. Yes, that’s right. I said brisket tacos.
And the portion size was not lacking. Three beautiful tacos served in warm, crispy flour tortillas, and served with a side of beans and rice. It was pretty much perfection. Lettuce, pico de gallo, cheese, sour cream, and avocado helped to top my tacos off and was one delicious ride all the way.
Of course the great thing about dining with other people is that you get to sneak a taste of whatever they ordered. Tim ordered the chicken tender basket and picked one of the many choices for sauces. Something as simple as chicken tenders doesn’t sound like much, but they did an awesome job and I was totally impressed.
So if you’re looking for a new restaurant to try, and you find yourself in the area, drop by the Brickhouse Grille. You’ll be glad you did!
