Have you ever decided to visit a restaurant on a whim? You drive past it and think to yourself, “I want to go there.” I will admit that I did that just last week, and I was not disappointed.

City Cafe and Bakery is a local restaurant located in downtown Fayetteville, Georgia. While the restaurant may be small, its kitchen is turning out high-quality flavors at a low cost. But I’ll get to the food in a minute. First, I just want to gush over the atmosphere of this place. I mean, just look at it:

And as if this wasn’t already amazing enough, they had live music. And these guys were amazing:

This classy destination was a fun-filled experience that made for the perfect Valentine’s weekend. But I know why you’re reading this: you want to know about the food. So here goes. Lobster Ravioli. Yes, lobster. And it was divine. The delicate cream sauce and the tender asparagus was a beautiful accompaniment to the pasta.

Of course, if you decide you don’t want pasta, consider trying some of the German dishes they serve, such as schnitzel. Dishes made with chicken and steak are also available if you’re looking for something a little more standard. Although I have only visited this restaurant once, looking over the menu made it clear that nothing they serve is ordinary or bland. And as amazing as all this sounds, the prices on the menu are not too steep. Most of the dishes on the dinner menu were listed at $20 or less.

Oh, and if you have room for (or simply can’t resist) their desserts, those are also inexpensive. While I normally pass on dessert, I happened to be sitting right beside the display case. Yes, that’s right. I said display case.

Make your decision and they’ll bring it out looking like this:

I opted for the chocolate mousse dome and it was pure heaven. A creamy, chocolate ganache and a crunchy, chocolate crust made up the covering for the rich, chocolate mousse inside.

So if your mouth is watering and you haven’t driven yourself to the City Cafe and Bakery yet, you need to. It’s worth the trip for the experience alone. But as you can see, the food is extraordinary as well 🙂
