So remember how Tim and I spent our Memorial Day weekend? Well, we decided to actually relax for the Labor Day weekend. And by “relax” I mean burn up a lot of gas, check out some new restaurants, and go on an adventure.
On a spur-of-the-moment decision, we decided to travel south on Saturday. Pine Mountain, Warm Springs, and Manchester were the 3 cities we visited. While Pine Mountain is famous for Callaway Gardens, being cheap seemed a little more interesting that day. As a result, we got to see epic views, quaint towns, and even a fish hatchery! Here are a few pictures from the trip:
Oh, and you know I have to mention food! So here we go with Aspen’s Mountain Grill. While this won’t be a full review, I can’t not mention it. Cozy atmosphere, delicious food, and amazing company all made for a great experience. You’ll have plenty of mouth-watering options to pick from the menu, but I’d have to recommend you try the pimento cheese burger. The cheese is white and melty, and the jalapeno jelly is a little sweet and totally delicious. Definitely worth it!
Overall, Saturday was a busy day. But I guess we didn’t get enough adventure, so on to Monday….
With coffee in hand, we set out first thing Monday morning and worked our way up to Dahlonega, Georgia. Due to a slight miscalculation, we took a more scenic route, bypassing parts of I-85. And I must say, the views were great.
And the city itself is beautiful too! But honestly, my favorite parts of Dahlonega were out in the country.
And of course, there was more food. I couldn’t pass up the Shillelagh at Shenanigans! Name it, this sandwich probably has it. There’s even a fried egg tucked away in all those layers.
So if you’re looking for your next destination, consider stopping by Dahlonega. There’s plenty to see and do. I can’t wait to make another trip up there to see what else I find. See you there!
