Maybe it was from watching too many Disney movies, but ever since I was little, I always dreamed of sitting in an Italian restaurant, eating dinner, and sipping coffee with my husband. Well, I have found my husband, so the only thing left was the Italian restaurant lol. But the search is over. If you’re ever in Carrollton, Georgia, you have got to stop by La Trattoria.
The location is perfect for any date night and has become one of my new favorites. We stopped in while we were out on the town and it was so much fun. We only ordered coffee and dessert, but we sat and talked for about 2 hours.
Obviously I did not sit at the bar (because that’s not how I roll), but it was pretty and I couldn’t help but take a picture. Regardless of the bar area, it is still very much a family restaurant and there were several children there within the time that we were there. If you’re looking for a nice place to come in out of the cold (in December), and get some warm food or coffee, try coming by La Trattoria. I thoroughly enjoyed it!
While it’s just a tiny restaurant off the square, this place is serving up classic Italian favorites…and dessert! I’m sad to say that I have not tried the dinner menu, but I did get to try their coffee and dessert. And it was divine! I just couldn’t pass up on the mocha latte and Tim went for the caramel macchiato, regardless of the price ($6). (In case it’s hard to tell, the cup in the picture below was a large coffee mug. So the $6 price wasn’t too bad all things considered.)
If you’re like me, you tend to shy away from these types of things. The last time I had a latte, it was overly sweet and not very enjoyable. Here, it seems that you add your own sugar. And I like that. I can get it just the way I want.
In the mood for dessert? You can get more common items such as cheesecake, but why not go for something a little special? How about tiramisu? Or cannolis?
Both were excellent and are definitely worth coming back for. The cannolis are only mildly sweet–filled with a creamy ricotta mixture and topped with pistachios and confectioner’s sugar, making them perfect companions for my coffee.
In summary: the location is great, the service is great, and the food is great. There was nothing disappointing about this place or the food and I can’t help but give it 5/5. If you find yourself out on the town in Carrollton, you have got to try La Trattoria.
