Do you ever get those strong food cravings? I do. Often. And a lot of times, I’m craving meat. In those times that I need something meaty and delicious, I can’t help but want to go to Meat N Greet in downtown Newnan, Georgia. Founded in February 2014, this place has already made a name for itself. Although there are other options on the menu, I’d have to say their specialty is burgers. And I’m talking decadent, gourmet burgers. You can play it safe with a classic cheeseburger or be adventurous with a “One Eyed Willie”, “High West”, or how about their “El Diablo”? Wondering what all these are? Guess you’ll have to take the trip to find out…
Meat N Greet definitely delivers on the atmosphere. It’s just a small restaurant serving up big flavor in downtown Newnan. With such a rustic, casual feel, this place is great for stopping in for lunch after walking around the shops. Although you have the option to sit at the bar, it’s easy to get a table away from it if you so choose, allowing the restaurant to be family-friendly. Day or night, it’s a great place to sit with friends for a day on the town, or grab a bite to eat with your sweetheart for a date night.
The name does not lie. Meat N Greet is serving up meaty creations everyday. Anything from burgers to hot dogs to smoked meats, there’s sure to be something appealing to everyone. But their signature items have got to be the burgers. Each burger is made from Angus beef, and while this may be enough to have you sold, they go even farther to let you know that it’s made up of chuck, brisket, and short rib. And the brioche buns that they’re served on…Let’s get down to the review.
Going my usual route, I couldn’t help but order the Gaucho burger. The combination of avocado and bacon is too good to pass up. And for those of you who have never put avocado or guacamole on your burger, you have no idea what you’re missing. Let me start off by saying the burgers here are pretty big, and unless you have a huge appetite, you should be plenty filled up if you manage to finish everything. I’ll start from the top and work my way down. The brioche bun is a perfect fit for this sandwich. It’s warm and buttery and tastes amazing. Depending on which toppings you get on your burger, you might have a rich savory flavor, or in my case, I had some fresh veggies on mine, giving the burger a much lighter flavor. Which only made it all too easy to enjoy the burger. The burger. What can I say about it? It is absolutely divine. It’s thick and juicy with a wonderful flavor and texture. This is how every burger should be and I really can’t say enough about it. Trust me, this is not McDonald’s that they’re serving you. This is the real thing.
Another thing that I love about Meat N Greet: the sides. Why? Because they don’t just give you a great tasting burger with some mediocre fillers on the side. I got the fried okra, and let me tell you, it was some of the best I’ve had. We’re not talking “I just pulled this prepackaged bag of okra out of the freezer and cooked it” kind of okra. They fried up whole okra. Although they give you the option to order chimi mayo for dipping, I would recommend you do. It has a wonderful dill-like flavor that really sets off the okra. Love, love, love that stuff.
In case you couldn’t tell, this place got a 5/5 in my book. Great food, great atmosphere, and really couldn’t complain about any of it. And in case you’re wondering, yes, the service was great too. It was all great.
Thanks Meat N Greet for the experience and yes, I will be back again.
